Can a young widow find love again with her husband’s reflection?

Haley’s three-year marriage to Sam, an army medic, ends tragically when he’s killed in Afghanistan. Her attempts to create a new life for herself are ambushed when she arrives home one evening—and finds her husband waiting for her. Did the military make an unimaginable mistake when they told her Sam was killed?

Too late to make things right with his estranged twin brother, Stephen discovers Sam never told Haley about him. As Haley and Stephen navigate their fragile relationship, they are inexorably drawn to each other. How can they honor the memory of a man whose death brought them together—and whose ghost could drive them apart?

Be prepared for high drama with Somebody Like You!  You know when guns and dead men show up in the first two pages that there’s excitement ahead, and Vogt nailed it with this beginning.  She writes about spiritual and emotional drama with kindness and clarity and does so in such a way that you love the characters from the very beginning.  You’re cheering them on despite their unusual situation and can’t wait to see what happens next.

I appreciate Vogt’s perspective on this story.  It seems like a fine line to walk – one that honors the grief of those involved and their close relationships while still allowing them to deal with the ramifications of a possible new connection to someone else so closely related to the deceased.  It’s not overly dark, but neither does she approach this dilemma with humor.  The emotional tone is respectful and … well, perfect.

Because of that respect, and because of the journey to healing that both Haley and  Stephan are on, there are many spiritual lessons to be learned within the pages of Somebody Like You.  I appreciated their work to forgive past hurts, to come to terms with their own talents and personalities, and to let go of dreams when their time has passed.

Somebody Like You is a moving and sweet emotional drama that highlights the sacrifices made by our troops.  It’s not to be missed.

I received a free copy of Somebody Like You in exchange for an honest review.
