Videri, a fair-trade and locally-owned chocolate factory in downtown Raleigh, NC, makes for a fantastic field trip. The self-guided tour is a fun way to see the chocolate process in action, but if you’re not close enough to drop by on your own, I have great news!
Gypsy Road is featuring our trip to Videri on their blog today – along with lots of resources for creating your own chocolate unit – and most of them are FREE! Hop on over and check it out!
Of course, if you want more information about Videri, you can go here to read more about our trip. The resources below are also some of our chocolate-y favorites.

Hi, Tara! I’m happy to meet you. We’re big fans of field trips and are excited to have two great ones this week. I’ll hop over and check your space out, too. I love the way that we can share resources virtually, don’t you? 🙂
Enjoy your time at the Nest.

We were reading the book the Candymakers and tried like crazy to find a chocolate or candy making store that had tours but just could not. We finally bought some molds and some chocolate melts at Michaels and made our own but we had been looking forward to a fun candy factory tour. Maybe we should take a trip to the Carolinas!

Isn’t chocolate a fun thing to study? There are SO many things to learn!
We did our own chocolate study, and we were fortunate enough to be able to visit several chocolate factories. I’m not sure where you’re located, but Videri is a great option in Raleigh, North Carolina. Hershey has a simulated tour, as well as some great chocolate museums, in Hershey, Pennsylvania. I heard that it’s closing – boo! – but there’s also a small factory in Lebanon, PA, called Wilbur’s that had an open kitchen and museum. You could watch workers make molded chocolates and truffles.
All of these trips are linked under our ‘Creative Learning’ page on the tab above.
I hope you’re able to find a location near you, and thanks for stopping by!
