Lisa Harris ends her US Marshals series with a bang with her new release The Catch. If you’ve been following along with Madison and Jonas, you won’t want to miss this ending – and if you haven’t, it’s the perfect time to read them all. Here’s what you need to know:
After a harrowing attempt on a judge’s life at the courthouse, Deputy US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn are tasked with finding a missing woman and an endangered child in connection to the murder of the judge’s wife. What seems like a fairly straightforward case becomes hopelessly tangled when the marshals discover that the woman they are searching for is not who they think she is.
Madison and Jonas are forced into a race to find the woman and the child before the men who want her dead discover her location. And in a final showdown that could cost her everything, Madison will come face-to-face with the person who murdered her husband.
Lisa Harris knocks it out of the park with The Catch! You’ll be caught off guard again and again as Madison and Jonas work to solve their case and find Luke’s killer. I love how Harris kept me on my toes throughout the whole story. That element makes the best suspense stories.
I enjoyed the complexity of the plot. There’s nothing straightforward about The Catch – that’s partly how Harris keeps the reader guessing, I think, but she also weaves the story tighter and tighter as it advances. This makes the story more intense to read and totally draws you in.
I really enjoyed this cast of characters, and I’m sad that the series ends here. While the loose ends are all wrapped up in satisfying ways, Madison feels like a friend. I want to know what happens to her in the next chapter of her life, and I hope that Harris finds a way to tuck some Easter eggs into future novels to keep us up to date with her. Her story became even more personal in The Catch than in the previous novels – it grew deeper and more complex as she worked through years of emotion and processed new events – and I really hate to see her go.
So if romantic-dramatic-action-packed-suspenseful-high-octane novels are your fav, this is just the book – really the series – for you. Just remember to clear the weekend, because once you start, you won’t be putting any of these books down.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
