One of the first things that I learned in the Dale Carnegie class as a 4-Her is that ‘the most important word in any language is a person’s own name.’ It’s also true that words have power – and meaning. They can give purpose, direction, and understanding. That’s why I am excited to be able to share these name-meaning resources with you from CrossTimber: an 8×10 Plaque Print and AmazingName Print Activity Sheets.
CrossTimber products highlight the meanings of your names in many ways: historic, scriptural, from the origin, etc. These can be very meaningful.
When ordering from CrossTimber, you can choose the design you want to use. The website features a dropdown menu system, from which you select the category, like flowers or scenic landscapes, and then you can browse through the available pictures in each category. There are really fun and beautiful options, and it’s easy to find something to fit everyone’s likes and personality.
It seems like it should be easy to do, but the visuals on the website were confusing for me. For instance, I needed to find the options for the 8×10 plaque, but there are only drop-down menus for 7×9 and 10×12. It took a long time to find where I needed to be, and that made the ordering process frustrating.
On the flip side, the website features a chat window during business hours, and if you have questions or want to know the meaning of a name you’re thinking about, you can chat with a representative and get the information you need. This is a really nice option and can help make ordering decisions much easier.
I’ve worked with CrossTimber in the past, and my products have always arrived beautifully; this time, however, despite being carefully packaged in the envelope, my print was bent in several places. I photographed the print as it arrived to show you. The top left corner was bent backwards and the bottom right corner was creased. I’m not sure that these marks will show when the print is placed in a frame, but it would have been nice to have it arrive without them. Unfortunately, this was a packaging issue and not a shipping one.
The envelope was packed very full, which made damage during shipping difficult because of the AmazingName Print Activity Sheets. This set arrives with more than 25 sheets, making for a tight squeeze in that envelope. My materials were also packed with a piece of cardboard to provide further stability. I appreciate the care that was taken with that.
The plaque print is beautiful. The printing is of high quality and the colors are vibrant. It will be a great addition to the wall once framed.
These printed activity sheets are great! The picture above shows a mix of the medium-level sheets. Some are simpler, with very large letters and lots of white space, great for emergent writers; these feature primary-grade sizing and spacing, with simple, encouraging text.
Other activity sheets are much more complex. These are clearly for kids with advanced fine motor skills and with basic academic skills. They’re fun, too!
My CrossTimber order arrived very quickly after I placed it. If that kind of turnaround is typical, then orders placed now will arrive before Christmas – and how fun would it be to have products featuring your very own name to unwrap? Don’t take my word for it, though – click on the graphic below to read other reviews from the Homeschool Review Crew.
