The weather has finally changed, and it’s beautiful here in North Carolina!  I’m loving the opportunity to be outside without sweating my ears off.  We’re going to be spending as much time as possible outside this month, …

That’s why I’m happy that …

Hearts for Home Blog Hop – September 28, 2016

We had our school pictures taken today.  The kids wore new clothes, but since they’ve outgrown everything from last year, they needed shoes we haven’t shopped for yet.  My Big Helper discovered that my shoes fit her, now, and she chose to wear a pair of clunky brown shoes with big heels.  I’m not sure I’m ready for this.

That’s why I’m happy that …

Hearts for Home Blog Hop – September 21, 2016

Whoo-hoo!  Last week I was stressed about the extreme heat that was continuing, but for the past three days we’ve been basking in lovely temperatures and frequent drizzles.  While the heat is expected to return, we’ve been frantically doing some baking and reading on the porch, listening to the rain.

That’s why I’m happy that …

Hearts for Home Blog Hop – September 14, 2016

It’s still hot here!

The initial reports for this week were calling for GORGEOUS weather, so I’m especially disappointed – but hopefully it will come soon.  We’re still in hiding from the heat and finishing up our Lemoncello studies, as well as preparing our entries for the North Carolina State Fair.  The kids are very happy to enter some new categories this year, and that means Mommy is kept hopping.  That’s why I’m happy that …

Hearts for Home Blog Hop – September 7, 2016

We’re back in school this week, and the kids are working their way through their very first unit study without me:  Mr. Lemoncello’s Library Olympics.  They’re busy prepping for next week’s book club, swapping off using the computer for their math lessons, for their unit study research, and generally running around, giddy, showing me their work and asking me questions.  I love seeing them so excited, and it’s wonderful to see them be excited about their schoolwork – but I’ve been pulled in all directions in their excitement.  That’s why I’m happy that …

My Big Helper has been really busy this summer, and now that she’s home again, she’s working hard to catch up on things around here – including her bees.  We spent Friday afternoon learning from her mentor, doing hive inspections and a sugar shake test to determine the level of dangerous mites in the hives.  We’ve been in the hives several times lately and are also preparing to host a booth at an ag festival, which is why I’m happy that …

Is this summer flying by or what?  I’m seeing lots of back-to-school pictures on Facebook, but we’re still several weeks away from that – we’re cramming as much summer fun into our last days as possible.  We spent the weekend visiting family and hiked in the Shenandoah National Forest one evening, where we saw lots of beautiful flowers and deer.  The fun isn’t stopping anytime in the near future, with festivals, a park, a sewing playdate, and more in the next few weeks, which is why I’m happy that …

Last week My Big Helper went off on her very first mission trip!  She loved it and has her heart set on heading off to Haiti in the near future more than ever.

This week she’s spending a few days at 4-H workshops, so My Little Man and I are having more quality Mommy-Son time.  He’s very fun to hang out with, and I’m especially looking forward to some wading time in a nearby creek tomorrow.  All of that family togetherness keeps me hopping, which is why I’m especially happy that …
