Did you see my post about our experience at Epic Patriot Camp?  I’m still flying high from it – it was that good!

In other news, however, the kids came home so worn out that they’ve been sick the past few days, so we’ve spent lots of time being very uncreative while watching myriads of Netflix shows and reading quietly while I make batch after batch of toast.

Crossing my fingers, I think we’re finally moving past all that, and we’re getting ready to rejoin the land of the living.  I can’t wait to check out this week’s HfH posts, though, and am always happy that …

Hearts for Home Blog Hop – July 13, 2016

It’s writing camp week!  We’ve been super excited to travel to a historical writing camp sponsored by the National Park Service – more on that later – and we’re finally here.  The kids all wound up with the projects they get to do and I’m getting some dedicated lesson-planning-and-writing time, so you might not hear too much from me for another few days as I make the most of every quiet moment I have.  I’m using every ounce of creativity I’ve got, and so that’s why I’m super excited that …

Happy Fourth! … or … Sixth!  😉

We celebrated Independence Day with friends and have been enjoying some down time this week.  My Big Helper and I spent a day lazily visiting farmer’s markets, we’ve spent lots of time reading, and we’re enjoying the summer.  I’m not feeling super creative, and so that’s why I’m glad that …

Hearts for Home Blog Hop – June 29, 2016

Do you ever have weeks where everything seems to be topsy-turvy?

That’s how this month has gone.

We’ve done some spur-of-the-moment travel, begun fun summer activities, and renovated the gardens.  I’m deep into planning next year’s book clubs and academic calendar and field trips.  We’re prepping for a big party and mourning a deep loss.  Writing here may continue to be a bit sporadic for a while as I meet prior commitments and work to be ready for school in the fall.  That’s why I’m happy that ….

Hearts for Home Blog Hop – June 15, 2016

It’s quiet here this week.

The kids are away at camp and I’m working hard to plan our next school semester by day and hanging out with my husband by night.

It’s strange how much noise and fun and laughter two short people add to a household.

They add laundry and dirt and chaos, too, and because of that I’m thankful for this week’s chance to rest and enjoy the quiet.

I’ll be super happy to pick them up on Friday and embrace the noise, though, too.

We’ve been on a wonderful field trip, traveled to see family, and acquired more bees since last Thursday!  Isn’t it amazing what can happen in a week?

My daughter’s new colony of bees has moved in, and their special needs for the first little while are keeping us busy.  We’ve also had lots of rain, which forces baseball games to be rescheduled, and we’re wrapping up our regular school year, which is why I’m happy that …

Happy birthday!

I don’t know if it’s yours, but this week that honor goes to my sister, my son, my cousin, and my father-in-law – and that’s a lot of birthday cake!  Fortunately for me – and for anybody eating them – I’m only making one of them.  My Little Man has asked for a ‘car cake,’ complete with tiers and new Hotwheels cars on it.  Do you let your kids design their own cakes?

Hearts for Home Blog Hop – April 13, 2016

I’m feeling the stress this week.

We’ve got something big scheduled every single day, thanks to weather and illness rescheduling, and there’s no end in sight.  It’s all good stuff, but there’s a lot of it, which usually means little sleep and craziness for me.

That’s why I’m extra happy that …
