The CSB stays as literal as possible to the Bible’s original meaning without sacrificing clarity, making it easier to engage with Scripture’s life-transforming message and to share it with others.

We’re doing something new with one of our book club groups this year, and it’s spread to include some other people, too: we’ve challenged ourselves to read through the whole Bible in a year.

This is something that I’ve done several times, but although my kids both read their Bibles, they haven’t worked through them quite as systematically and studiously as we’re doing now.

It’s a really exciting process, and it calls for some ceremony and commemoration. That’s one reason I’m so excited to see the new CSB He Reads Truth Bible and to gift it to My Little Man for his upcoming birthday.

This Bible is full of great features that I knew My Little Man will enjoy.  Look at that list!  I’m going to highlight a few of my favorites for you.

My Little Man has kiddie storybook Bibles.  He has easy reader adventure Bibles and a fantastic daily chronological Bible.  He doesn’t, however, have his own study Bible or a more grown-up one.  While the Bible is for everyone, and men and women alike can read and study and benefit from God’s Word, this particular version has some features that are especially masculine.  (Looking for a great feminine Bible?  Check out my review of this one!)  Check these out:

I love the reading plans that are available in this Bible! I don’t know about you, but I’ll take all the help understanding the Bible as I can get, and I know My Little Man feels the same. This chart is neatly organized with lots of white space for a clean feel.

Following this reading plan is a description about the organization of Psalms. I love when Bibles include background information, because the more we know, the more we can understand the text itself. This Bible does that well: includes some relevant information without being overwhelming.

Personally, the layout of the pages is one of my favorite things about this Bible. It has such a clean feel with big margins – perfect for taking notes or journaling! I love that! I like lots of space, and the CSB He Reads Truth Bible definitely provides that.

Reading plans aren’t the only kind of charts in the Bible. I think this one is particularly appealing as it’s not in your typical squarish shape – but I like the topic, too. I’ve never really stopped to consider the emotions found in the Book of Psalms, and this one fascinated me. That’s true of several other charts I studied: their basis was completely new to me. Is that because I’ve just totally missed this particular topic of study, or because this Bible is formatted specifically for men, and so, not thinking like that, these things haven’t occurred to me? I don’t know, but I think they could be very useful nevertheless.

Here’s another one!

One of the very first things that caught my attention when I read through the Bible for the first time was the many references to Jesus, even in the Old Testament. I’ve never seen them all listed in a Bible like this, though – I love it!

Last year I helped a group of kids at church build a 3D map of the Holy Land. They had lots of fun, and we really learned a lot. That experience drove home the importance of good maps in a Bible – and of my need to learn more about the geography of that region.

There are a variety of maps in this Bible, and they’re all laid out in this color scheme. They’re clear and specific, and I like the way that they’re put in the Bible where you need them, instead of being in a collection in the back. You won’t have to go hunting for these maps – they’re at your fingertips!

I’m forever pointing out that we didn’t learn about Biblical history as kids – only about secular history. I’m now fascinated by seeing how Bible events fit into the historical timeline, so I love that the CSB He Reads Truth Bible includes this handy-dandy chart for you! What a great visual and study aid!

It’s no secret that I love Bible journaling. I love looking at the different types of fonts and scripts that I see around the web, as well. The verses laid out in these styles in this Bible, though – they have a definite masculine flair to them. I had to share this one in particular, though – it looks like a hamburger! My guys would both love that.

It’s also important to get the outside of the Bible. It’s a handsome forest green with gold embossing. The cover has a sturdy hardback binding with a linen-like feel. It also comes with a matching case, into which the Bible slides perfectly. It feels very weighty and durable – perfect for study, being carried around, or handling everyday wear and tear.
