How to Hard Cook an Egg – a Secret Chefs Post

Earlier in the week I shared how reading the story Secrets and Scones by Laurel Remington for book club sparked an interest in cooking and blogging amongst the girls – so much so that we started a separate club just for this at virtually the same time.

Four of the girls chose to come over and spend an afternoon with us each month, learning technical cooking terms and techniques, as well as how to alter basic recipes to create new ones. After working on that, each team then turns their new recipe into a blog post on their brand-new club blog, which they’re writing and maintaining themselves.

It’s fun to see their excitement for this, and they’re doing a great job. They’re working hard to execute their recipes and skills well, in addition to learning how to make their food photography better each time – because, face it, we eat with our eyes first, and making food look appetizing in photos is really hard!

For their first meeting, because we had so much tech stuff to learn, we kept the cooking simple: we made hard cooked eggs, and then turned those into deviled eggs. We also made Quiche Lorraine.

This week they’ve continued working on those blog posts, and their first ones just went live. They’d love to have you check out their blog and learn How to Hard Cook an Egg!

Do you teach your kids to cook? If so, how’s it going? I’d love to hear your favorite kid cooking story in the comments!
